"It is urgent to stabilize the country": the head of the Côte d'Azur business community reacts to the fall of the Bayrou government

"We expected it, but it's still bad news," regrets Franck Cannata, president of the Union for Business in the Alpes-Maritimes (UPE06).
The fall of the Bayrou government brings its share of uncertainties and a lack of visibility about the future "with all the consequences for investment that this can generate. We continue to fall behind our neighbors, especially Italy and Spain. They are moving forward and we are marking time," he says angrily. Especially since the budget must be voted on before December 31, "in less than three months. It is urgent to stabilize the country; we cannot continue for long in this economic slump."
The problem, according to Franck Cannata, is that we need a Prime Minister who has the courage to implement tough reforms to revive the economy.
"But without a majority, it is difficult to govern, except by building consensus. However, consensus and harsh reforms do not go well together. President Macron, he believes, is in an insoluble dilemma because taking the risk of dissolution means losing what little confidence he still has and it means propelling the extremes. And that will do nothing good for businesses."
